Peace Now is a movement of Israeli citizens who view peace, compromise and reconciliation with the Palestinian people and the Arab states as the only guarantee for the future, the security, and the character of the State of Israel.

Peace Now maintains that the continuation of the military and civil rule over the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and over three million Palestinians endangers the security, the economy, and the democratic nature of Israel as the state of the Jewish people.

Peace Now believes that a mutually agreed border between the State of Israel and the State of Palestine, based on the 4 June 1967 lines, will ensure the security of Israel's citizens, and the well-being and moral standing the society. The absence of such a border and the existence of the settlements harm the security of the country and its citizens, cause social and economic disintegration within the country, place in question the moral standards of the society and reduce Israel's standing in the family of nations.

  • Only a recognized border between Israel and the Palestinian State will bring security.
  • Only a political solution and the reallocation of resources from the settlements to Israel proper will    rehabilitate Israel's economy and free up resources to deal with social deprivation.
  • Only an end to the occupation will provide international legitimacy to Israel's borders.
  • Only an end to the oppression will break the cycle of hatred and destruction.

Peace Now calls for the resumption of negotiations between the elected leadership of Israel and of the Palestinians for a solution based on the following principles:

  • A Palestinian State alongside Israel on the basis of the 4 June 1967 lines.
  • Equal and mutually agreed exchanges of territory.
  • Security arrangements and demilitarization that ensure Israel's security.
  • Jerusalem as the capital of both states, with free access to the holy places.
  • Comprehensive solution to the problem of refugees and displaced persons, to include internationally     supported compensation, without infringing upon the right to self-determination of the Jewish people in the State of Israel.

In the absence of negotiations, Peace Now demands the following:

  • Immediate removal of all the new settlements (called "illegal outposts") and a freeze on all building in and of settlements
  • Cessation of all acts of oppression -- closures, demolition of houses, uprooting of crops and  orchards, expropriation of land.
  • Legislation of a Compensation Act to assist settlers wishing to return to Israel proper.

Peace Now appeals to all peace-loving people on the Palestinian side and in the Arab world to work for an end to terror, for an end to the cycle of hatred, and for a resumption of negotiations leading to the creation of an independent Palestinian State existing peacefully side by side with Israel.
