Speeches Given in front of PM's House
Saturday after Saturday, at 20:00, from November 2001 until April 2004, we, activists from Peace Now, used to protest in front of the Prime Minister’s Residence in Jerusalem. Activists from other Peace Organizations used to come as well. Similar gatherings took place in other cities - Tel Aviv, Kfar Saba, Haifa, Beer Sheva. We came - winter, spring, summer and fall. Sometimes we were only a few, sometimes we were many more. We held banners, which changed according to events that happened that week. They also changed according to the protest that was planned. But the banners all dealt with the same subjects: Peace, Democracy and ending the Occupation and its Evils. We invited up to three people to talk with us. We also tried to publish their words, so that they may reach a wider audience. Some of those words were well known, like "The Ethics of Revenge" by Yitzhak Frankenthal, a very moving speech. His message has traveled around the world. – It is the message of a father that lost his son to terror. A father that prays for peace, as he wishes that no one else's child, Israeli or Palestinian, should die. Some of the speaker’s names are recognizable. Some are peace activists whose names you never heard. In this section you may find some of the speeches from those protest vigils (most of the speeches appear in the Hebrew website).
